May I Offer You Some Feedback?

Episode 027

As leaders, we recognize that we deliver feedback and receive it in many different ways. Here's a tip you can apply and practice today that will assist you in delivering feedback. It is called the "FORMS" Feedback Model and as you practice this each day, notice the responses you start to get.  Something really important to know about feedback is that it is a tool to provide awareness; not a torch to make people or results wrong. It’s time to raise the bar on respecting one another, and I am going to put a period on that.

FORMS Feedback Model

Factual - A factual act, not your interpretation or opinion.
Observable - If you did not see or personally experience the situation, you are not able to give feedback, it's really just "hearsay."
Respectful - Driven by creating working results and relationships, not characterizations or judgments.
Measurable - Objective reality, it must be backed up with evidence.
Specific - Not a generalization or assessment; define the specific area or incident in which feedback is being provided.

Listen to the episode for more nuggets, then practice, and let me know how it’s working for you.

Episode: 026
With Andrea Valero and Felicity Morales

First!  Happy Happy Birthday Felicity Morales!!   I love that this episode drops today, you are a gift!

Let’s start today by a deeper dive in choosing to take the lead and take action on what you are passionate about.  Passion is that thing that makes you feel alive, brings you joy, and when coming from passion and purpose compels you to move forward.  Passion is the thing that will allow you to get creative, stay out of the pity party when the curve balls come in, and passion will drive you to pivot and find another way.

We will move through a story of passion, pivot, and purpose, when life throws you a big curveball.  Sometimes those curveballs will have you dancing at the Pity Party, which we really can only stay there for so long.  The opportunity is in the question, "what can I learn about myself through the curveballs?", now that’s an interesting question!  What's your answer?

On the episode today are two passionate gals, who love to dance, have fun, and create joy.  You are going to love hearing their story, they are two who take the lead, pivot, and create amazing experiences through dance. Something tells me you will want to crank the music up and get your booty shaking.  I highly encourage it!

The Final Quarter

Episode 025

Can you believe we are in the final Quarter of 2020, and half way through October?  This is just crazy making!! Today we are going to look at finishing this year strong and look ahead to 2021.  Even though there are so many uncertainties, it’s always a good idea to plan.

As a coach, this is the time of year when my clients and I look back on the results that were created throughout the year, we look at what we hit, where we needed to pivot, what worked, what did not work, and all the things we learned along the way.  It is a powerful exercise. And I highly recommend you do this. I do this with my business clients, my entrepreneur clients, as well as those working on self-improvement.  And don’t pass up those personal outcomes, they are equally as important, because we are whole people, so take that holistic approach.  The picture above is one of my client's and I just finishing her planning session, it was powerful, and she is ready to finish the quarter strong, and we know exactly what the next twelve months she is up to. As you are reading this she already hit another goal (within 24 hours of the meeting), that's how this works!! Pure JOY!

I’ve always looked at October as a great time to revisit the outcomes and goals we set back in January and do something today that I know my future self will thank me for.  It truly looks a little different or maybe a lot different this year, and I know there are so many things we have learned along the way. So take the time to acknowledge them, the lessons are important.

Here's to you having a GREAT 4th Quarter, and looking forward to an amazing 2021.  Reach out if you want any support.

Here are the highlights from this episode:

{04:55} A powerful retrospective exercise
{09:05} Celebrate with dance!
{12:39} The three R's to success strategy
{16:39} A circle of support

Let us know any questions in life you have, and what you would like to take on going forward, happy to help!!

Derailed to Redirected with Mindy Kay

Episode 024
With Mindy Kay

Today we are looking at “Leader’s Don’t Wait” from another lens.  And this lens is called “surrender”.  And that may seem the opposite of what we think “Leader’s Don’t Wait” sounds like in our heads, so let’s explore that a bit.  What does it mean to surrender?

We’ve talked before that we get to choose what success means to us, we are free to choose our experiences in our life, and what supports that is the freedom to choose an attitude that supports us.  And sometimes it is about surrender. And surrender means to let go essentially, to accept what is so (think of the circumstances in your life).  This does not mean that I am letting my circumstances lead and drive my life, rather surrender is accepting what is so and making choices to support us in moving through them.

It could have to do with supporting your mental, emotional, and physical health and trusting your natural knowing that “something has got to give” and choose YOU.  When we surrender to what is so, we can remain neutral (and what that means is we may not like it, but we can address it, we can look objectively at it, we can be in ownership and accountable for it.  From there we can clearly make choices that support our purpose and vision for our life in that moment.

Often, we are going 100 miles per hour, we don’t stop or pause to reflect on what we need right now, to be the best version of our self so that we can be in service to our self (and that is not selfish by the way) everyone say that with me right now, taking care of me is not selfish!  Because when we do take care of our self, then we can serve others. Trust your knowing.
In this week’s podcast we will hear from Mindy Kay who I’ve known for many years. I met her in a leadership training I was facilitating and coaching, watched her step into being a certified coach, and have had the absolute pleasure of being a coach for her as she served on many leadership teams.  She has a giant heart, loves to serve and is a great coach.  She will share her story with all of you by trusting her knowing, surrendering, and what she is creating.
