Leading from your genius - part 2

Earlier this month, we spoke about leading from your genius. That was part one. And, now, let’s discuss what could happen when we don’t lead from our genius. It is so helpful to know and recognize both sides of the coin so that we may make adjustments when we’re maybe slipping into the latter.

As a reminder your genius is the natural way you create value when you’re being fully yourself. There is no “doubting” your genius!

And yet, leading outside your genius often shows up as self-doubt, second-guessing, and the kind of over-efforting that drains your enthusiasm. You may feel scattered, behind, or like you’re forcing your way through tasks that were never meant to be yours. The work becomes heavier. Decisions get slower. And your confidence? It starts to wobble.

When we don’t lead from our genius, it can feel like:

  • Trying to “do it all” instead of doing what matters

  • Feeling overwhelmed by tasks that don’t play to your strengths

  • Losing your natural spark or momentum

  • Silencing your own ideas in favor of what you think others expect

It’s not failure, it’s feedback. A gentle nudge back toward your gifts. A reminder that the world needs what only you can bring.

Here’s the truth: your genius isn’t just a strength. It’s a pathway back home to yourself. And when you honor it, you lead with more authenticity, impact, and joy.

This month, I invite you to ask yourself:
Where am I leading from my genius—and where am I not?
And what small shift could bring me closer to the place where I thrive?

Because when you lead from your genius, you don’t just elevate your work, you elevate your life.
