no one makes you a leader ➡ you do
See if this resonates with you. There was a time I thought leadership would arrive with a title.
A promotion.
A role.
A moment where someone would finally say, “You’re ready.”
And for a while, I waited.
But what I didn’t realize then and what I know in my soul now, is that I was already leading.
In how I showed up.
In how I made decisions.
In how I held myself accountable.
The shift didn’t come when my title changed. It came when my mindset did.
When I stopped waiting to be recognized and started choosing to embody leadership, right where I was.
It’s like Glinda the Good Witch says, “You’ve always had the power, my dear. You’ve had it all along.”
One of the biggest misconceptions about leadership is that it’s something you are given. That one day, with enough experience or validation, you’ll step into it.
But leadership doesn’t work that way.
Leadership is not a title.
It’s not a role.
It’s not something handed to you by the hierarchy.
It is a way of being.
It’s how you show up when no one is watching.
It’s the ownership you take over your choices.
It’s the intention you bring into your actions.
Whether you realize it or not, you are already leading yourself, your energy, your decisions and your presence.
The real question is: Are you doing it consciously?
Because the moment you stop waiting for permission is the moment your leadership becomes available to you.
Not louder. Not more performative. But more aligned.
And here’s the truth most people miss:
Titles may give you authority. Being gives you influence.
You don’t become a leader someday. You decide to be one, and you begin.
