When Your Energy Is not Aligned With the Change You Want
When my energy isn’t aligned with the change I say I want, it often feels barely noticeable at first.
I’m still doing things. Still showing up. Still busy. But there’s a quiet sense of circling instead of moving forward.
Not because I don’t care. But because my energy is being placed in places that don’t fully support my intention.
I’ve learned not to judge that feeling, but to listen to it. Because the moment I notice the disconnect, I regain my leadership.
Instead of asking, “What’s wrong?” I gently ask, “Where is my energy actually going?”
And that one question often brings me right back into alignment, with intention, with clarity, and with the change I truly want to create.
In part 1 of this series, we talked about when your energy is aligned with the change we want. Now contrast that with when your energy is not aligned with the change you say you want.
You may feel:
Busy, but oddly unfulfilled
Mentally occupied, but emotionally disconnected
Pulled in multiple directions
Slight resistance to the very actions that would move you forward
A quiet inner tension you can’t quite name
This is not failure. This is misalignment of focus.
And misalignment has a feeling signature. It often sounds like: “I care about this… but I’m not actually giving it my energy.”
Here is the deeper truth:
Your life does not respond to your wishes. It responds to where your energy is consistently placed.
Not occasionally.
Not emotionally.
Consistently.
As leaders we can ask a powerful question:
Is my energy matching the change I say I want to create?
Because when intention and energy align, momentum becomes more natural. Not effortless, but truer.
